XUL Architecture
Let the light in
At XUL Architecture we design beautiful, aspirational homes with ingenious ways of bringing in natural light, to improve your wellbeing and quality of life.
We light up the process of working with a residential architect to make it easier to follow, clear, consistent – and most of all enjoyable.

The importance
of light
Natural light is essential for our minds and bodies. We all need it to feel happy, healthy and balanced.
A lack of natural light is a common challenge when spaces don’t flow well. Or you might have a neighbouring property affecting the quality of light in your home. It can be hard to enjoy a room where you have to fight to let the light in, particularly on those darker winter days.
Years of research and experience across our team of architects give us new ways of looking at light, both natural and artificial, and we’ll work closely with you to get the right result.
The XUL in our name is LUX spelt backwards, meaning light and the measurement of light or ‘luminous flux’ in Latin. It comes from our expertise in manipulating light into architecture because we understand the positive impact light has on how spaces, and therefore people, feel.
Wellbeing from light is closely tied to nature-based design and to environmental sustainability. When you work with us, you can be sure our approach combines looking after you with looking after our planet. We’ll act with compassion and responsibility across your whole project, looking for low-energy and low-impact solutions wherever possible.
Our clients tell us how much better they feel in their light-filled, flowing spaces, and they tell us how we’ve helped the whole family live together and in harmony. With our clever ways with light, and with the attention we give to designing homes tailored to the people who live there, we like to say we deliver nothing short of happiness!
What our clients say
"You have made the whole process easy to navigate, despite a pandemic, regardless of the outcome which you had warned us about."
300+ projects completed in Barnet, Brent, Camden and Haringey
We have worked on a number of boroughs in London. Most of our work is in Camden, Barnet, Haringey and Westminster, which are some of the most challenging boroughs in terms of Planning.
In any case we always do detailed research on any local constraints and regulations. On complicated projects and/or listed buildings we often work closely with a planning consultant. We are used to working on listed buildings and conservation areas.

Lighting up the process
We believe there should be as much light on the process of working together as there is in the homes we’re designing.
At XUL we never assume you’re feeling confident about the process, so we’re there at every stage of a project to offer support and respond to any questions you may have.
The briefing process is much more than how many bedrooms and bathrooms you need. We’ll come together around your table to listen to your story and explore how you live – where you like to sit at different times of the day, how you use your kitchen and living room, whether you entertain, where individual family members go when you’re not together, and all the other things that make your home yours.
By getting to know you, we can design especially for you – offering a guiding hand where it’s most needed.
You become part of the team when you become our clients, it’s a collaboration. And we’re proud that people know us for our smooth approach to project management, emphasis on relationships, and social contribution.
We also have a special interest in clear communication for clients with neurodiversity and this underpins our design ethos too.
